Danielle Moss:

Hey guys, it’s Dani and Jason with Moss technologies, REI marketing solutions. Today I am hijacking Jason’s YouTube channel to bring you videos on Carrot. Carrot is exclusive for our real estate investing clients. It is the easiest way to build a website and start getting leads straight to you. Jason’s going to jump right in and show you how to get started with signing up all the way through going live.

Jason Moss:

All right, guys, let’s get to this. And before we go any further, all the links are in the description below that we’re going to be using today. So first off, we are on carrot.com. Now Carrot has websites for investors and they have websites for agents. Today, we’re doing the investors, so you can go through the demo if you want, but let’s hop over to pricing and go through the different plans because they do have three different plans.

Danielle Moss:

So, Jason, what is the biggest thing that you see your clients choosing? And what’s the difference between the two, or three?

Jason Moss:

Well, they do have the core plan, content pro, and advanced marketer. Now, I’ll say probably 90% of our clients are on the content pro plan, which is this middle tier plan. I do have some on the advanced marketer. Very few though. And very few are on the core. The main difference really is, with the content pro, you do get three different websites, which a lot of guys really only run one, but you can use the other two for testing purposes and different things, or you might have a need for an extra website. The other main difference is, you do get campaign tracking links. You can track some SEO rankings per site. You get the group coaching calls. The video post is very, very cool. I really liked that feature. And then you also get the automated blog library and the biggest, the absolute biggest thing is the integrations built-in with Zapier and some other CRMs that they natively integrate with.

Jason Moss:

So that’s what we’re going to be signing up for today. So we’ll just hop on down here and we’ll hit join now. All right, and the checkout page is very, very simple. It goes over what you’re getting up here. This is the content pro like we selected, and it shows you the pricing. And then it’s just a simple checkout form. So I’ll fill this out real quick and then we’ll move on to the next step. And once you have your information filled out, we’re just going to hit place order. And it’s going to land you on the next page, which is where you create your Carrot account. Now, depending on when you look at this, it might look slightly different, but the process should be the same. So let’s just create an account real quick and then go ahead and hit, create my account. All right, now we’re on step two and this is their welcome screen, first steps for your new account.

Jason Moss:

And you can see they kind of just walk you through everything. They even have a little chat window if you need help. They’re very, very good with support. The chat support is just awesome. So let’s go through this real quick. You can even skip it if want, but I’ll show you what it does. Just give you some expectations here and you can pause the video and read this if you like. All right, then on the next page, it looks like they do have a somewhat of an upsell offer where they are giving you, looks like a three lead per day training for a hundred bucks. I’m sure you can buy that later, but it might be a little bit more expensive. We’re not going to do that today, but if you want to, you can add to your order. We’re going to hit, no thanks, and continue setting up the account. So now we’re on the next page here, and it’s just going to verify some information that we already filled out on the checkout page. That all looks correct so we will hit next.

Jason Moss:

And then it’s going to ask for your primary local area you’re targeting. For this test site that we’re doing, we’re going to be focusing on St. Charles County, Missouri. So market city, we’ll put St. Charles, but that’s actually going to change later and then we’ll put Missouri. This is really just for setup purposes. It can all be changed later on inside the account, so don’t worry about it too much. And then another question here done a few deals we’ll hit next. All right. So we’ve gone through the questions there, and now we are on the last page, which is the launch page. Well, actually it looks like we’re still in the here at profile page and it’s going to ask us what kind of site we’re trying to create here. So now they have different templates of sites that already have the copy and the text on them. So depending on what you’re wanting to do, that’s where you pick this here.

Jason Moss:

Now, most of our clients, of course, are on the attract the motivated house sellers site. Now it’s not necessarily going to look like what you see in that thumbnail, because they have different themes, but you see, they do have overall company credibility. If you’re trying to attract cash buyers, if you already have a whole bunch of properties, that type of thing. And then they even have some other options down here for vacant land sellers, mobile home sellers, rent to own, there’s a lot of options here. But once again, I’ll say 99% of our clients on the attract motivated house sellers. You can even preview the site here, but we know that’s what we want so we’ll just click on it here.

Jason Moss:

Right now, it is creating all the pages, it’s installing WordPress. It’s setting up your hosting. It’s setting up your forms, it’s doing everything. This is something that if you’ve never built a website before you don’t realize how much it’s actually doing for you. If you’ve ever built a website before, you know that you have to find hosting, you have to install WordPress, you have to find a good thing. You have to write all of your copy. You have to get forms and plugins and SEO integrated, all the different things that go with building a website. This does it in like a couple of minutes. And as you can see, it says it’s done. It’s already installed your SSL certificate. It’s done everything. View your site. Let’s go ahead and click on it. Let’s see what it looks like. And it pops you into this dashboard here where our first site is basically ready to go.

Jason Moss:

All right. And if you guys are completely lost, remember the chat support is down here to always help you. So let’s click on this. All right, I just clicked on it and here is our brand new Carrot website. Now guys, you just watched everything we did. We did not touch this. We did not write any of this copy. We did not make these forms. We did not make these awesome numbered lists. We didn’t upload pictures. We didn’t do anything. This is just out of the box. It is ready to go to an extent, we highly recommend tweaking it and changing some copy. And those are some things that we’ll talk about and a link to in the description below. But this is ready to go. Your website is live, okay, this saved you tons of time.

Danielle Moss:

Hours. At least, months learning and figuring it all out and making edits and modifications and finding graphics. It takes so much time to launch a website. This is amazing.

Jason Moss:

Yeah. And you can see here, they even gave you a logo in a way. Of course, you’re going to want to change that. But for the most part, you could send someone here and collect the lead right now. Now, as you can see up here in the URL, that is not the URL we want. That’s the next thing that we’re going to do is get the website actually live and on our own domain. So let’s click on the Carrot here to go back to the dashboard. So we’re back on the dashboard page. The next thing we’re going to do is get the website live on your own custom domain, so billbuyshouses.com or like ours, st.charlescountyhousebuyers.com. That’s what we want to do. And of course you always, always, always want to put this on your own domain simply because it’s going to help you rank, it’s going to be your brand. It is your identity. You don’t want to have your website on Carrot’s sub domain.

Jason Moss:

So st.charlescountyhousebuyers.carrot.com. That looks dumb. All right, so this is very simple. They make it easy. You can see right here, this green little button, add custom domain. So you just click on it there. And it’s going to pop you over into the custom domain section. Now, it says inner domain that you have already purchased, starting with www dot. Now, if you have not purchased a domain yet, that’s what you need to do now. And I’ll show you actually how to do that, because I know a lot of my clients that don’t have a website yet, they don’t even know how to buy a domain, which is no problem. I highly recommend doing it with Namecheap. You can see Carrot recommends Namecheap as well. So I’m going to hop over into my name, cheap account, and I’m going to buy this domain so you can see how it’s done. So I’m in the domain name search, st.charlescountyhousebuyers.com and

Danielle Moss:

Jason, while it’s loading this, what should someone consider when they’re looking at their domain? What is a good domain? What’s a bad domain? What’s a tip you have for someone?

Jason Moss:

Well, there’s different ways of doing it. First off, you always want to pick.com, .org, .net, and maybe .co. All those other crazy ones that they have now, like .xyz, .me, .tech, .art, you don’t really want to do those for a house buying a company. Google trusts the.com, .net, org and co’s the most. The other big factor is just know what you’re doing with the name. Like I said earlier, don’t tie yourself down geographically speaking with the name. If you plan on going very wide, you can make something broad. If you’re going to be a national company, you could pick jasonbuyshouses.com. That name doesn’t tie me down geographically. This name that we’re doing here today, it does, and we’re okay with that because this site is only going to be for finding sellers in St. Charles County, Missouri. So that’s, that’s probably the two biggest tips I can say.

Jason Moss:

And like I said, we’ll have another video going much deeper into it, on the do’s and the don’ts of that. So this is ready to purchase now. And you can see, they even have a coupon that we can copy and we’ll add this to cart. All right, so I’ve added it to my cart and the next thing…

Danielle Moss:

Hang on one second. So a lot of things popped up once you added it to your cart. So for our real estate investor friends, do they need to add any of these items onto their shopping cart?

Jason Moss:

That’s a great question. And that’s the beautiful thing about Carrot. Carrot takes care of a lot of this here for you. Like you might’ve seen before, they already give you the SSL certificate for free. Hosting, Carrot does the hosting for you, and it’s amazing hosting by the way. So you don’t need any extra hosting. You don’t need an SSL. That’s more web hosting over there. You don’t need that. You don’t need the VPN and you don’t need the email. We recommend setting up a G suite email, Google workspace, as they call it now, which we actually have videos on that. So you don’t need that either right now. All we want to do is check out with this. So it’s in our cart. So we will head over to our cart here. And another great thing about Namecheap is they give you domain privacy for free.

Jason Moss:

If you buy your domain over on godaddy.com, GoDaddy charges you, I think it’s eight to $10 per year, just for domain privacy, which basically what this does is it blocks out your registration info so other people can’t find out who is registered the domain, and they can’t spam you with email and calls and all the stupid stuff that goes with that. So privacy is free on Namecheap. We have a coupon code here. You can always check on Namecheap’s website. They always have them available. They usually save you a couple bucks. So we’re going to confirm order here. And guys, you can also do one year, two year, three year registration, if you want, that is completely up to you. I’m just going to rush through this though and get this ordered. We’re going to check out with PayPal. And once you go through the checkout process with your credit card or through PayPal, you’ll end up on a screen like this, where you will see your domain that you just purchased.

Jason Moss:

You can go ahead and click on manage, and while that’s pulling up, let’s go back over to Carrot, because we’re going to go through the next steps here. We’re going to enter in the domain that you just bought. Make sure that’s correct. All right, save custom domain. All right, it pops you into step number two. And that is, add DNS records. Now, they walk you through it here. It is very simple. Don’t be alarmed. Don’t get scared of this. It’s very, very simple. They even have detailed tutorials on where you bought your domain from to walk you through it. But I believe, this is Namecheap here because that’s what they recommended. So very simple. Let’s go through this together. The first thing that we’re going to do is add your C name record to your Namecheap account. And this is what points your domain name to your Carrot website. So as you can see, it walks you through it here and let’s hop over to Namecheap. You’re going to be on your domain that you just purchased.

Jason Moss:

You’re going to click on the advanced DNS tab. Once this pops up, all we have to do is edit a C name record. Now, as you can see, they already have a C name record here, because this is their parking page because you don’t have a website on here yet. Now you can either edit this or delete it, I’m just going to delete it and make a new record for you so you can see how you’re doing it, especially if you’re on a different registrar. So we’re going to add new record. We’re going to come on down to see name right record. And we’re doing www and then the target is carrot.com, I believe. Let’s double check that real quick. Yes, www, and its carrot.com. And then we just hit the check mark. Now, propagation takes anywhere from a couple of minutes to a couple of days, usually it’s just a couple of minutes, so it shouldn’t be that long at all.

Jason Moss:

So once that does that, let’s over back to Carrot. And the next thing we’re going to do is add the redirects. So when someone is going to St. Charles County House Buyers, it goes to the www version and vice versa. So everything is correct. And all your traffic is going to the website properly. So we’ll go back over to Namecheap here. And we’re actually going to go back to the domain section because the redirects are here on the first page. So now that we’re on the domain page, it looks like Namecheap has already done this for us, but let’s double check because here it’s showing that the root URL is forwarding to the www version. And that’s exactly what Carrot was wanting. So they want the route to redirect to the www version. So that is already done, another reason to pick Namecheap when signing up. If it’s not done for you, you can just add the redirect and just type it in like you see, and then hit that checkmark, which it was already done.

Jason Moss:

And if we go to the website here, as you can see already tested it, the website’s already live. So it goes a very, very quick, propagation didn’t take long at all. You can see we’re on st.charlescountyhousebuyers.com. And this is the website. It doesn’t say Carrot anymore. And you can see it is on the www version. Now, one thing that you see that is not good is it says it is not secure. So we need to do that now, which you can see is step three. So before we move to step three, let’s check the DNS records. They have a nifty little button right here. We’re going to click on that and boom bada bing, it says it as good to go. We get the green and now we’re on step three.

Jason Moss:

And now that we’re done with the DNS record, we are on step three, which is the automatic SSL. Now, once again, Namecheap makes this very easy for us. They’ve already requested the certificate. And like I said, usually it takes between around 24 hours or so. If you go to the website right now, it is still not secure, which is perfectly fine. That’ll be secure in about a day or so. If it is not, go on your website on Carrot and just talk to support, they’ll get everything worked out for you. But that’s it guys, the website is live, it’s on your custom domain, SSL is being worked on, and your site is ready to go. It’s ready for you to tweak it, to add your logo, to change some copy. And we’ll have videos on that. This was just simply how to get your Carrot set up and get your website live.

Danielle Moss:

Guys, if you found this video helpful, definitely give us a thumbs up. If you have questions, drop them in the comments below, and don’t forget to subscribe because we have more Carrot videos coming exclusively for real estate investor clients soon. The executive assistant is angry.
